I graduated with my A.A.S. in Medical Assisting from Beal College in 1989, B.S. in Business Administration in 2001, A.A.S in Medical Office Management from Beal College in 2006, A.A.S in Medical Administration from Beal College in 2008, A.A.S in Health Information Technology from Northwestern College 2011.  

 

I was the Allied Health Program Director at Beal College in the Medical Assisting program for 16 years, serving on numerous advisory boards. For the past 3 years, I have been the Chair of the Medical Assisting program at Eastern Maine Community College where I have implemented numerous changes to expand the training for our students. 

 

I have worked in Pediatrics, Primary Care and at a reference Laboratory. 

 

I also am a Site Surveyor for the Medical Assisting Education Review Board, Registered Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, Certified Phlebotomist and Certified Allied Health Instructor.

I graduated from Beal College in 2010 with an A.A.S in Medical Assisting, Ashford University in 2014 with a B.A. in Health and Wellness, and Southern New Hampshire University in 2018 with a M.A. in Public Health. I am currently working on a doctorate in Health Professions Education.

I began my teaching career in Allied Health at Beal College before moving to EMCC. I have been teaching for almost 13 years. In collaboration with Barbara, we have implemented many changes to medical assisting education and phlebotomy training and continue to grow the programming to meet community needs.

​

In addition to teaching in post-secondary education, I am a Site Surveyor for the Medical Assisting Education Review Board, run my own BLS/CPR/AED/First Aid training business, Save-A-Life Training LLC., and serve on multiple advisory boards within the College and community. I have worked in family medicine, but my heart will always belong to urgent care!

When not working on Allied Health education projects, you can find me at the local pools training for upcoming competitive swimming competitions and spreading water safety awareness to all. I am a Level II US Masters Swimming Coach and Adult Learn-To-Swim Certified Instructor with more than 31 years of competitive swimming, coaching, and water safety training behind me.

Career Experience includes management and CMA (AAMA) experience in the physician practice and hospital setting. Sue has practice administration experience prior to moving into the educational arena.

Years of experience in education including Medical Assisting Instructor, Program Director for Health Information Management and Medical Assisting. Serving as Dean of Education prior to leaving and joining St. Joseph Hospital where currently employed.

​

Manages the Bangor Masonic Center in Bangor.

Served the City of Bangor twice as Mayor.

Served Nine Years (termed out) as City Councilor, now in 14th year.

Served six years as School Committee.
